Small red, blue or purple veins can appear on the legs, face and other areas of the body. Although they are often harmless, they may make some patients feel self-conscious about their skin.
Recharge Clinic offers noninvasive laser vein treatment using the Astanza MeDioStar laser at our Ocala 17th Street location. Treatment is customized based on the size, color, depth and location of the visible vessels.
The laser delivers controlled energy through the skin to target pigment within the visible blood vessel. The treated vessel absorbs the energy, causing it to gradually close and become less noticeable as the body clears it over time.
The surrounding skin is protected as much as possible through careful treatment settings selected for the patient’s skin and the vessel being treated.
Laser vein treatment may be appropriate for certain:
This treatment is not intended for every type of vein. Larger, raised or painful varicose veins may be caused by underlying venous reflux and often require evaluation by a vascular specialist.
Laser treatment and sclerotherapy can both be used for visible veins, but one may be more appropriate depending on the vessel.
Sclerotherapy is commonly used for spider and small varicose veins, while surface laser treatment can be particularly useful for smaller vessels and facial veins. The best approach depends on the individual vein pattern.
Patients may feel brief warmth, snapping or stinging as the laser pulses are delivered. Comfort varies by treatment area and individual sensitivity.
Most treatments are relatively quick, and many patients return to their usual activities shortly afterward.
Some vessels improve after one treatment, but multiple sessions are often needed. The number of treatments depends on:
The veins may darken temporarily before gradually fading. Improvement continues as the body processes the treated vessel.
Temporary redness, swelling, warmth, bruising or sensitivity may occur. In some cases, the vessel may initially look darker or more noticeable before fading.
Your provider may recommend that you temporarily avoid:
Specific aftercare instructions will be provided at your appointment.
Before treatment, a Recharge provider will examine the visible vessels and determine whether the Astanza MeDioStar laser, sclerotherapy or referral for vascular evaluation is the most appropriate next step.
Painful veins, leg swelling, skin changes, sores or large bulging veins should be medically evaluated rather than treated only as a cosmetic concern.
Laser vein treatment is available at our Ocala 17th Street location only.
