Nandrolone decanoate—sometimes referred to as “Deca”—is a prescription injectable medication with anabolic and androgenic properties. Ongoing monitoring may include blood counts, liver function, cholesterol, hormone levels and prostate-related testing when appropriate. Possible risks can include fluid retention, changes in cholesterol, acne, hormonal suppression, fertility changes, liver complications and androgen-related side effects. It should not be used during pregnancy and may be inappropriate for patients with certain hormone-sensitive cancers or other medical conditions.
