Platelet-rich plasma, commonly called PRP, is prepared from a small sample of your own blood. The blood is processed to concentrate the platelets, which contain growth factors involved in the body’s natural healing response.
Recharge Clinic offers several PRP treatments for medical, aesthetic, hair and sexual-wellness concerns. Because PRP is made from your own blood, treatment does not involve synthetic filler or donor tissue. Results vary, and more than one treatment may be recommended depending on the area and your goals.
PRP may be injected beneath the eyes to improve the appearance of dark circles, thin or crepey skin and overall skin quality. The goal is a gradual, natural-looking improvement rather than adding significant volume to the area.
PRP may be used to support hair growth in men and women experiencing certain types of hair thinning. Depending on the treatment plan, PRP may be injected directly into the scalp or applied during microneedling.
PRP does not create new hair follicles and is not appropriate for every cause of hair loss. A consultation can help determine whether you may be a good candidate. Research suggests PRP may improve hair density for some patients with androgenetic hair loss, although treatment protocols and results vary.
During a PRP microneedling facial, tiny controlled channels are created in the skin and PRP is applied to the treatment area. This combination may support collagen production and improve the appearance of:
PRP may also be injected beneath the skin in select areas of the face to support skin quality, firmness and natural-looking rejuvenation.
It may be used on its own or alongside dermal filler. PRP does not provide the same immediate volume or structural correction as filler, so your provider will help determine which option—or combination of options—best fits your goals.
PRP may be injected into certain joints or areas of injured soft tissue to support the body’s healing response and help reduce pain and improve function.
It may be considered for selected patients with osteoarthritis, tendon injuries or other musculoskeletal concerns. Evidence is strongest for certain knee conditions, but results depend on the diagnosis, severity of the condition and treatment protocol. PRP cannot guarantee tissue regeneration or a complete recovery.
Recharge Clinic offers PRP sexual-wellness injections for appropriately selected men and women.
For men, PRP is injected into targeted penile tissue with the goal of supporting blood flow, sensitivity and sexual function.
For women, PRP may be injected into targeted vaginal and clitoral areas to support sensitivity, arousal and sexual satisfaction. PRP has also been studied as a possible treatment for stress urinary incontinence in women.
Research in these areas is still developing, and PRP sexual-wellness treatments are not established or guaranteed treatments for erectile dysfunction, low libido or urinary incontinence.
Your visit begins with a consultation to review your concerns, health history and treatment goals. If PRP is appropriate, a small amount of blood is drawn and processed before the concentrated platelets are applied or injected into the treatment area.
Temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, bruising or soreness may occur. Since PRP works through the body’s natural response, improvement is generally gradual rather than immediate.
PRP is versatile, but it is not the right treatment for every patient or every condition. Your Recharge provider will determine whether PRP, another treatment or a combination approach is most appropriate for you.
