Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers

Hyaluronic acid, or HA, is a substance naturally found in the body that helps retain moisture. HA fillers can add immediate volume, soften facial folds and enhance specific features.

Depending on the product and treatment plan, filler may be used to:

• Add shape, hydration or volume to the lips
• Restore cheek or midface volume
• Define the chin or jawline
• Soften lines and folds around the mouth
• Improve facial symmetry and contour
• Correct selected recessed scars
• Rejuvenate the backs of the hands

Different fillers have different textures and levels of firmness. A soft, flexible product may be preferred for the lips, while a more structured filler may be selected for contouring the cheeks, chin or jawline.

Results are temporary, and the duration depends on the product, amount used, treatment area and individual metabolism.

Which Filler Is Right for Me?

Sculptra is a collagen-stimulating injectable made with poly-L-lactic acid. Unlike HA filler, it does not create its full cosmetic result immediately.

Instead, Sculptra gradually encourages collagen production, helping improve facial support and restore the appearance of volume over time. It may be a good option for patients with broader facial volume loss or those who prefer gradual, subtle rejuvenation.

Sculptra may be used to improve areas such as the:

• Cheeks and midface
• Temples
• Lower face
• Jawline
• Other areas selected by the treating provider

A series of treatments may be recommended, and results develop gradually over the following months.

PRF Bio-Filler

PRF, or platelet-rich fibrin, is created from a small sample of the patient’s own blood. The blood is processed to produce a fibrin-rich injectable material containing platelets and growth factors.

PRF Bio-Filler may be considered for patients who want a more natural approach to improving skin quality and creating subtle volume.

It may be used in selected areas such as:

• Beneath the eyes
• The cheeks
• Fine lines around the mouth
• Areas with mild volume loss or crepey skin

PRF Bio-Filler does not provide the same immediate structure, predictability or lifting effect as traditional HA filler. Results are typically more subtle and gradual, so your provider will help determine whether PRF, dermal filler, Sculptra or a combination best matches your goals.

What to Expect

Your appointment begins with a facial assessment and consultation. The provider will explain which product is being recommended, where it will be placed and what kind of result you can realistically expect.

Temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness, redness or asymmetry may occur after treatment. Some products settle quickly, while others take additional time to soften or develop.

Dermal filler is a medical procedure and carries uncommon but serious risks, including accidental injection into a blood vessel. This can damage tissue and, in rare cases, cause vision changes, blindness or stroke. Seeking a trained medical injector who understands facial anatomy and knows how to recognize and manage complications is essential.
