Dermal Fillers and Sculptra

Injectable dermal fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, Belotero, and Sculptra can enhance and rejuvenate lips, fill shallow contours in the face, soften facial creases and wrinkles, enhance and define cheekbones, correct nose imperfections, improve the appearance of recessed scars, and replace volume loss in parts of the body like the hands.
What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers are used to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, create contouring and volume, and revitalize the skin. The most common type of dermal filler are hyaluronic acid fillers, which are great at reducing the appearance of wrinkles, filling areas of volume loss, and increasing the hydration of the skin in the area where the filler is injected. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body found in joints normally. It acts as a lubricant and shock absorber and its hydrophilic properties attract water molecules and bind to them. This is beneficial to the skin by keeping it hydrated and healthy, especially the lips, creating a soft and supple appearance.

Which kind of Dermal Filler should I get?

There are different brands and types of HA fillers, which vary in density and malleability. Some fillers work better for different parts of the face depending on how firm and structured or soft and smooth the area being treated is to look. For example, the type of filler used in the lips would usually be softer so the lips still have a natural feel and movement, while filler in the cheeks would be a little firmer to hold its shape and create a contour.

  • These fillers tend to last anywhere from 12 to 15 months on average.
  • We offer different brands and types of fillers and our trained medical providers can recommend which one they think would be best suited to achieve each patient's aesthetic goals.
  • These fillers are most commonly used in the lips, cheeks, under eyes, and around the mouth, but they may be used in other parts of the body that suffer from volume loss over time like the hands.

Recharge Clinic also offers Sculptra as well for longer lasting results, averaging around two years. Sculptra is a bio-stimulatory filler composed of poly-L-lactic acid. This filler stimulates a boost in the body’s natural collagen production gradually over a few months, resulting in a more subtle change rather than instant results like HA fillers. Sculptra works well in larger areas to fill volume loss and rejuvenate the skin by replacing collagen in areas that are lacking.
