A Comfortable, Nonsurgical Option for Vaginal Dryness, Sensitivity and Bladder Concerns

Changes in hormones, childbirth, aging and certain medical conditions can affect vaginal tissue, moisture, sensitivity and urinary control. These concerns are common, but women often feel uncomfortable bringing them up.

Recharge Clinic offers vaginal CO₂ laser treatment using the Emvera fractional CO₂ laser. The device delivers precisely controlled laser energy to targeted tissue, and treatment settings can be customized for each patient.

Our patients frequently tell us the treatment was much more comfortable than they expected, and many have reported meaningful improvement in dryness, sensitivity and urinary leakage. Results vary, and treatment is not appropriate for every woman.

Concerns We May Evaluate

Vaginal laser treatment may be considered for women experiencing:

  • Vaginal dryness or irritation
  • Discomfort during intimacy
  • Reduced sensitivity
  • Changes in vaginal tissue following childbirth or hormonal changes
  • Mild urinary leakage or stress incontinence
  • Changes that affect confidence, comfort or sexual wellness

These symptoms can have more than one cause. A medical evaluation helps determine whether laser treatment, hormone therapy, pelvic-floor treatment or another option may be most appropriate.

How Does the Treatment Work?

The Emvera system uses fractional CO₂ laser technology to deliver controlled energy in small, precise treatment areas. The manufacturer describes the system as adjustable for treatment depth, energy level and pulse duration, allowing the provider to personalize treatment based on the patient and area being treated.

The procedure is performed in the office using a specialized treatment applicator. Most appointments are relatively brief, although the complete visit may take longer for preparation, evaluation and aftercare instructions.

Is Vaginal Laser Treatment Painful?

Most Recharge patients describe the procedure as comfortable and not painful. Some women may notice mild warmth, pressure or temporary sensitivity during or after treatment.

Experiences vary, and your provider will explain what to expect before beginning.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of treatments depends on your symptoms, medical history and response. A series of treatments may be recommended, followed by maintenance sessions when appropriate.

Improvement is typically gradual rather than immediate. Some women notice changes early in the treatment series, while others need additional time and more than one treatment.

Laser Treatment May Be Only Part of the Answer

Vaginal dryness, painful intimacy, low sensitivity and urinary leakage are not always caused by the same issue.

Depending on your evaluation, your personalized plan may also include:

  • Vaginal estrogen or another localized prescription treatment
  • Broader hormone therapy when medically appropriate
  • Pelvic-floor exercises or pelvic-floor physical therapy
  • Lubricants or vaginal moisturizers
  • PRP sexual-wellness treatment
  • Scream Cream or another prescription option
  • Additional evaluation for urinary or gynecologic concerns

We do not assume that every woman needs hormone therapy—or that laser treatment alone will correct every concern. Our goal is to identify what is contributing to your symptoms and recommend the most appropriate combination of options.

What to Expect After Treatment

Your provider will give you individualized aftercare instructions. Temporary spotting, discharge, mild tenderness or sensitivity may occur.

You may be advised to avoid intercourse, tampons, swimming or strenuous activity for a brief period following treatment. The exact recommendations depend on the treatment performed and how your body responds.
