Platelet-Rich Plasma (abbreviated as PRP) is a treatment option that involves treating a specified area with injections of a patient’s own plasma to stimulate repair, rejuvenation, increased production of collagen and elastin fibers, and improve the overall health of tissue cells. Platelet-Rich Plasma is the fluid portion of the blood that carries red and white blood cells, healing platelets, and different proteins and cytokines throughout the body to the cells that require them. PRP has a long history of being applied in dentistry, reconstructive surgeries, and orthopedic medicine.
In recent years, it has become an innovative treatment in other branches of medicine, including dermatology, cosmetics, and wound healing. The blood is drawn from the patient and then spun in one of our centrifuges to separate the plasma portion from the red and white blood cells. Since the PRP is rich with platelets, proteins, and growth-stimulating cytokines that work to repair tissues, increase collagen production, and rejuvenate existing tissue cells so they can function properly, it is an excellent alternative to invasive surgical treatments. It is extremely safe since it is autologous to each patient, as it is their own and not engineered.
For women, the O Shot using PRP is an innovative treatment option to increase libido and vaginal sensitivity, treat vaginal dryness, and incontinence. When injected into the vaginal walls, the PRP rejuvenates the cells in the vaginal tissue to treat tissue atrophy, dryness, and lack of sensitivity. It also strengthens the muscles that prevent incontinence. Increasing the collagen production works to tighten the vaginal walls to treat any laxity as well. PRP or Dermal Fillers may also be injected directly into the clitoris to increase sensitivity during sexual interaction. This helps to increase libido and sex drive when stimulated and decreases dryness caused by a lack of sexual desire. All of these procedures are mostly pain free but we offer numbing options at no charge to our patients to ensure the procedure is as comfortable as possible.
