Recharge Clinic is all about getting you healthy glowing skin! Dermaplaning can be done by itself or added to a facial for bonus results.

Dermaplaning is a great facial treatment that can be done by itself or added to one of our other facials, for benefits that include:

  • Exfoliation of dead skin cells
  • Removal of Vellus hair, also referred to as "peach fuzz"
  • A brighter and more even skin tone
  • Smoother makeup application
  • Decreased potential for clogged pores and blackheads
  • Softer and smoother skin texture
What is Dermaplaning?

Recharge Clinic has a variety of aesthetic procedures as well as facials. One of these options includes Dermaplaning. If you want your skin to feel and look smooth this is for you! Dermaplaning is a cosmetic procedure that removes the outermost layer of your skin, which is where dead skin cells can build up and cause a dull appearance and clogged pores. Dermaplaning is safe for most people, with little risk of any negative side effects. Dermaplaning exfoliates your skin and removes dirt and vellus hair, better known as “peach fuzz.” It's different from dermabrasion, where an esthetician or doctor uses a high-speed, rotating brush to exfoliate the skin.

Does it hurt?

With Dermaplaning, our aesthetic providers will use a scalpel-like tool called a dermatome. One of the most common myths of Dermaplaning is that it's painful. The reality is that since Dermaplaning involves light feathery strokes, you'll find it to be pleasant and pain-free. Most patients report that it is far more comfortable than popular treatments like waxing, laser hair removal, or threading, and even say that it feels quite relaxing! Because this procedure removes up to 3 weeks of dead skin cells that have accumulated, the results usually last up to 4 weeks.

How does it help treat breakouts?

Although this treatment involves gently pulling a blade along your skin, Dermaplaning, unlike traditional shaving, uses a sharper blade to slough off dead skin cells. In addition, it also removes that "peach fuzz" facial hair, so skin is more even in tone and texture, and helps to decrease clogged pores and acne. The "peach fuzz" hair can trap dirt and oils close to the skin and increase the potential for clogged pores and blackheads to appear.

Our aesthetic providers recommend that after having a Dermaplaning treatment done, patients should include an antioxidant serum in their daily skin care routine like the ZO Skin Health 10% Vitamin C Self-Activating or Daily Power Defense, to protect their fresh new skin from environmental stressors like pollutants in the air.

Will my facial hair grow back thicker and darker after Dermaplaning?

Rest assured, regular Dermaplaning facial treatments do not make your facial hair grow back darker or thicker. With normal shaving products it is common for the hair to grow back thicker and darker. This is because regular shaving blades are not sharp enough to slice through hair strands without even the slightest tugging or moving of the hair follicle under the skin. When the hair follicle is effected, even if it is the slightest movement, the follicle produces thicker and darker hair. Since the blade of a Dermaplaning tool is sharper than the blades of store-bought razors, it slices through the hair strands without tugging on the follicle. Since the hair follicle under the skin is not effected, there is no change to how the hair grows back.

Although this service can be performed by itself we recommend pairing it with one of Recharge Clinic's many facials to get even better results!
