Your Trip Doesn’t Start at the Airport… It Starts With How You Prep Your Body

May 18, 2026

Written by Cynthia Tieche

I don’t “vacation” a lot.

I travel… a lot.

There’s a difference.

Between running multiple locations of Recharge Clinic, going back and forth to Auburn to watch my daughter ride for the Auburn Tigers, visiting my daughter in medical school, and having my 3-year-old with me all of the time… my travel is not exactly relaxing 😅

It’s fast. It’s full. And if I don’t feel good, the entire trip feel is stressful.

I learned this the hard way…

You can have the best hotel, the best outfits, the best plans…

But if your body feels off? None of it matters. So now, I don’t just pack for trips.

I prep my body for them.

Why Travel Hits You So Hard

Most people think it’s just the flight.

It’s not.

It’s everything leading up to it:

  • You’re running around packing last minute
  • Not sleeping well
  • Grabbing whatever food is convenient
  • Not drinking enough water
  • Stressed trying to get out the door

Then you add flying:

  • Dry air → dehydration
  • Sitting → poor circulation
  • Exposure → germs everywhere

And suddenly you land feeling:

  • exhausted
  • bloated
  • puffy
  • foggy

…and you’re supposed to just jump into “vacation mode.”

Your body’s like, absolutely not.

What I Do Before I Travel (Every Time)

I don’t guess anymore. I have a system.

Hydration IVs

I go into my flights hydrated, not trying to catch up mid-trip.

It makes a huge difference in:

  • energy
  • bloating
  • how you feel when you land
Immune Support & IVs

Because being stuck in a metal tube with coughing strangers is just part of my life now.

I also use our immune mist nasal spray (from Recharge Clinic) before I fly. It’s just an extra layer of protection I don’t skip.

NAD Support

This is one of my biggest travel secrets.

It helps with:

  • mental clarity
  • energy
  • recovery

Especially when I’m bouncing between cities and not slowing down.

Consistency > Perfection

I don’t overcomplicate things.

I stay consistent with what works.

That alone changes everything.

And yes—this is exactly why I do all of this.
I flew two or more times a month this past year and didn’t get sick once.

Let’s Talk Gut Health (Because This Can Ruin a Trip Fast)

This is where I’m probably a little more intense than most people… and I know that.

I don’t eat airport food.
I don’t eat plane food.

I pack my own food because I know how my body reacts.

Now—do I expect everyone to do that? No.

But if you have:

  • gluten sensitivity
  • dairy issues
  • bloating
  • stomach pain when you eat out

…and then you go on a trip eating whatever is available all day?

You’re setting yourself up to feel miserable.

What I always bring:
  • Probiotics (I use our Fortifeye Probiotics)
  • Recharge Cocktail Vitamin
  • Food I know my body tolerates

Because gut issues on vacation don’t just affect your stomach…

They affect:

  • your energy
  • your skin
  • your mood
The Travel Pack I Will NOT Leave Without

This is one of those things patients don’t realize they need… until they do.

We send our patients with customized travel packs that can include:

  • UTI medications
  • antibiotics
  • steroids
  • nausea medication
  • other essentials based on their history

Because getting sick while traveling?

It’s not just inconvenient. It can ruin your entire trip.

Trying to find care in another city—or worse, another country—is not something I’m interested in figuring out on the fly.

I’d rather be prepared.

My Non-Negotiables

No matter where I am:

  • I do not skip my Recharge Cocktail vitamin
  • I stay consistent with my routine as much as possible

And real life—if I’m going to have a drink, I take my Recharge Cocktail before bed. As long as I don’t overdo it, I wake up feeling totally fine the next day.

Super Fat Burner shots help with this too.

Because I don’t want to spend my trip trying to fix how I feel.

What Actually Helps Me Look Better BEFORE Travel

This is where a little planning goes a long way… and where most people drop the ball.

If you’re just trying to lose a few extra pounds, you can usually make that happen in 2–4 weeks.

But if we’re talking 10–15+ pounds, that is not a “two weeks before vacation” situation… let’s be realistic.

Weight Loss Programs + GLP-1 Support
These are one of the easiest ways to actually be leaner, tighter, and not bloated in your pictures.

And I’m just going to say it…

If you’re someone who struggles with eating out, snacking all day, or just losing control a little on vacation — I have absolutely used GLP’s for that too.

No shame. Just strategy. shhh 😏

Peptides + Lymphatic Support
I’ve been on peptides for years… way before they became “trendy.”

Steve and I both swear by them.

But this is not a last-minute fix.

You don’t start peptides the week before your trip and expect magic. These work over time, and consistency is what actually gives you that tighter, less inflamed look.

Hormones Matter More Than You Think

If your hormones are off, traveling will make it worse.

More bloating.
More water retention.
More fatigue.
More cravings.

This is exactly why I believe in optimizing hormones ahead of time instead of waiting until things start falling apart.

I’ve personally been on testosterone replacement and thyroid support for about 10 years—and I will NEVER get off either. There’s no way I could keep up with this pace and still feel good without it.

You don’t wait until your car breaks down in the middle of the road… so why do that with your body?

The Bottom Line

Most people prepare their suitcase.

I prepare my body.

That’s the difference between:

  • dragging yourself through the first few days
  • or actually enjoying where you are

And once you feel that difference…

You don’t go back.

❓ FAQ (Because I Get These Questions All the Time)
Where can I get IV hydration or immune support before I travel?

We offer customized IV hydration, immune IVs, and NAD support at Recharge Clinic in:

  • Ocala
  • Clermont
  • Lady Lake (The Villages)

We also help guide patients on what makes the most sense based on how often they travel and how they typically feel.

Do I need to be a patient to get a travel pack?

Yes, travel packs are provided to established patients so we can safely prescribe medications based on your history. The great news is, it is very easy to become a Recharge patient! Once you are a patient, you can come into any of our five clinics for your health and wellness needs, and even utilize our convenient telehealth services.

What should I take for gut health before traveling?

A high-quality probiotic is a great place to start. We carry options like Fortifeye Probiotics at Recharge Clinic that are easy to travel with and support digestion while you’re eating differently.

How far in advance should I prep my body before a trip?

Ideally 1–2 weeks before travel so your body isn’t trying to play catch up.

Can you help with weight loss or energy before my trip (GLP’s, Peptides & Hormones)?

Yes—our treatments are designed to help patients feel better, reduce inflammation, and improve energy in a sustainable way (not last-minute crash dieting). We look at the whole picture and decide on treatment plans with together.
