She Carried Our 3-Year-Old Through the Airport… and That’s When Her Shoulder Pain Started

June 12, 2026
Written by: Dr. Steve Tieche

I’ll tell you exactly how this started.

Cynthia was traveling on her own (I was holding down the fort at Recharge Clinic) to see one of our older daughters away at school.
Airport chaos. Bags everywhere. Delays. The usual.

And at some point, she ended up carrying our 3-year-old longer than she should have, while carrying bags too.

If you’ve ever had a little one—you already know.
It’s not just a quick lift. It turns into 20 minutes… then 30… then your shoulder starts talking to you.

She felt it then.

But like most people… she ignored it.

“It’ll Go Away”

That’s what everyone says.

At first, it was just:

  • soreness
  • tightness
  • a little discomfort reaching overhead

Nothing dramatic.

But over the next few weeks, it didn’t get better.

It slowly turned into:

  • pain with certain movements
  • avoiding using that arm
  • adjusting how she lifted things
  • that constant “nagging” feeling that something isn’t right
  • And a lot of complaining to me in the process lol

And still… she put it off.

Then I Finally Stepped In

This is the part patients always laugh at.

Because yes—my own wife waited longer than she should have.

And yes—I finally said:

“Alright… enough. Let me treat it.”

No big dramatic moment.
Just a shoulder that wasn’t fixing itself.

What We Actually Did

We treated her shoulder using regenerative support—exactly the same approach we use for patients every day.

  • Nothing experimental.
  • Nothing extreme.

Just:

  • targeted injection into the affected area
  • biologic support to improve the healing environment
  • letting her body do what it’s designed to do

What Surprised Both of Us

I’ve been doing this a long time.

So I expected improvement.

What I didn’t expect… was how quickly things started to change.

Within a short period of time:

  • her range of motion improved
  • the constant irritation calmed down
  • she stopped compensating with other movements
  • and most importantly… she felt normal again

Not “perfect overnight.”

But significantly better—faster than if we had just waited it out.

Why This Works (And Why Waiting Doesn’t Always)

Here’s the reality most people don’t think about:

Your body can heal.

But sometimes it doesn’t heal efficiently.

Especially when you’re dealing with:

  • inflammation
  • overuse
  • small tears or irritation
  • constant re-aggravation

The signal to heal is there…

But the environment isn’t ideal.

What we did was simple:

  • improve the environment
  • support the tissue
  • allow the healing process to actually complete

And This Is What We See Every Day

This isn’t just a one-off story.

This is:

  • the golfer who can’t rotate anymore
  • the mom whose knee hurts every time she goes up stairs
  • the patient trying to avoid surgery
  • the person who’s “just been dealing with it” for way too long

Same pattern.

Different body part.

Where PRP Fits Into This

We often combine this type of treatment with PRP (platelet-rich plasma).

Think of it like this:

When you use them together, you’re not guessing.

You’re creating a much more complete healing response.

The Bigger Lesson

Cynthia’s shoulder didn’t fail her.

It just needed help.

And that’s the part I want people to understand:

  • You don’t have to jump to extremes
  • You don’t have to leave the country
  • You don’t have to wait until it’s bad enough for surgery

Sometimes the smartest move is just giving your body the right support at the right time.

The Bottom Line

If something has been bothering you:

  • shoulder
  • knee
  • hip
  • anything that “should have gotten better by now”

It’s worth looking at.

Not everything needs aggressive treatment.

But not everything fixes itself either.

If you want to know whether something like this could help you, we’ll walk you through it honestly.

  • No hype.
  • No pressure.
  • Just a plan that actually makes sense.

And if you’re wondering…

Yes—she still carries our 3-year-old.

Just a little smarter now.

FAQ: Regenerative Treatments & What You Should Know
What exactly is this treatment?

This is a regenerative support approach that uses biologic tissue products along with treatments like PRP (platelet-rich plasma) to help improve your body’s natural healing environment. It’s not about replacing tissue—it’s about supporting your body’s ability to repair itself more effectively.

Is this the same as stem cell therapy?

No.
And that’s intentional.

The treatments we use are FDA-regulated under specific tissue guidelines and designed for safe clinical use. Many “stem cell” treatments being advertised—especially those performed outside the U.S.—do not follow the same standards.

Is it safe?

When done correctly with properly sourced products, it can be very safe.

We only use products that come from:

  • regulated tissue banks
  • strict screening and processing protocols
  • established manufacturing standards

Safety, sourcing, and handling matter just as much as the treatment itself.

What kind of conditions can this help with?

We commonly use this approach for:

  • joint pain (shoulders, knees, hips)
  • inflammation and overuse injuries
  • recovery support
  • patients trying to avoid or delay surgery

Every patient is different, so treatment is always individualized.

How long does it take to work?

This is not an overnight fix.

Most patients notice:

  • gradual improvement over weeks
  • continued progress over time

The goal is real healing, not temporary masking of symptoms.

Do you combine this with PRP?

Yes—very often.

  • PRP helps signal the body to start the healing process
  • regenerative tissue support helps provide the structure and environment needed for that healing to occur

Using both together tends to create a more complete response.

What products do you use?

We use high-quality, ethically sourced regenerative tissue products from reputable tissue banks.

One example is VITTI-PURE®, a minimally manipulated biologic support product derived from donated human tissue and manufactured under strict tissue banking and safety standards.

Like everything we do, product selection is based on:

  • safety
  • quality
  • and what is most appropriate for the patient

—not trends or hype.

Do I need to travel out of the country for this?

No.

There are safe, regulated options available here in the U.S. when done correctly.
Traveling for unregulated treatments often introduces unnecessary risk without better outcomes.

How do I know if I’m a candidate?

The best way is a consultation.

We evaluate:

  • your symptoms
  • your history
  • your goals

And then decide if this approach makes sense—or if something else would be better.
