Have you ever looked at an aesthetics menu and thought, What in the world do any of these treatments actually do?
You know you do not like the brown spots on your face. You notice lines around your eyes. Your skin looks dull in photographs, your makeup does not sit as smoothly as it used to, and maybe you have some old acne scars that still bother you.
But do you need:
Here is the truth: you are not expected to know which treatment you need.
That is why consultations exist.
Our job is not to hand you a giant menu and expect you to diagnose your own skin. Our job is to listen to what bothers you, evaluate what is actually causing it, explain your options and help you build a realistic plan.
We do not just zap your face. We build a plan.
Different treatments solve different problems. Sometimes, the treatment you think you need is not the treatment that will give you the best result.
When you come in for an aesthetic consultation, you can simply tell us what you see:
Those statements give us a much better starting point than walking in and saying, “I think I need filler,” because you saw someone receive filler on social media.
The same procedure cannot fix every concern.
Generally:
That does not mean everyone needs a complicated treatment plan. Sometimes a patient needs one carefully selected procedure and a better home routine. Sometimes several concerns must be addressed separately over time.
We discussed Botox and Dysport more thoroughly in the first blog of this series, so I will keep this simple.
Botox and Dysport relax selected muscles that repeatedly contract and create expression lines. Common areas include forehead lines, the lines between the eyebrows and crow’s feet around the eyes.
When used conservatively, they can help someone look less tired, tense or angry while still looking like themselves.
But Botox and Dysport do not:
If your main concern is skin texture or pigmentation, adding more Botox is not the answer.
Fillers may be used to restore support, improve facial balance or address selected areas of volume loss.
Sculptra works differently. It is an injectable treatment that gradually encourages collagen production rather than simply placing volume in one specific area.
But neither filler nor Sculptra is designed to remove surface pigmentation, redness or damaged texture.
Healthy-looking skin and appropriate facial volume can complement one another, but they are not the same concern.
If the main problem is rough, sun-damaged or uneven skin, adding filler may not create the improvement the patient is looking for.
CO2 laser is a resurfacing procedure.
In plain English, the laser creates a carefully controlled injury in the skin. That controlled injury starts a healing response and encourages collagen remodeling.
In appropriate patients, CO2 laser resurfacing may be used to improve:
CO2 is a more involved treatment than a light facial, mild peel or standard microneedling appointment. It requires preparation, downtime and careful aftercare.
The skin may look red, swollen, sensitive or crusted during the early healing process. The amount of downtime varies based on the depth of treatment, the area treated and the individual patient.
Results are not immediate. The skin must heal, and collagen remodeling continues afterward.
CO2 laser is not right for every person, every skin tone, every medical condition or every time of year. Recent tanning, sun exposure, certain medications, a history of abnormal scarring and other medical factors may affect eligibility. Laser resurfacing also carries risks that can include prolonged redness, infection, scarring and temporary or lasting changes in pigmentation.
Patients must follow all pre-treatment and post-treatment instructions carefully, especially instructions concerning sun exposure and skincare.
CO2 laser resurfacing is offered only at Recharge Clinic’s SE Ocala location.
A photofacial commonly uses intense pulsed light or another light-based technology to target selected colors within the skin.
Depending on the patient and the technology being used, a photofacial may help improve the appearance of:
A photofacial is not the same thing as CO2 resurfacing.
CO2 laser is primarily a resurfacing procedure. A photofacial generally focuses more on selected pigmentation and vascular concerns. The right choice depends on what we are trying to improve.
Skin tone, pigmentation pattern, tanning history, medications, medical history and recent sun exposure all matter. Certain light-based treatments carry a greater risk of burns or unwanted pigment changes when used on inappropriate candidates or improperly selected skin types.
Multiple treatments may be recommended because one session may not correct years of accumulated sun damage or redness.
Photofacial treatments are offered only at Recharge Clinic’s SE Ocala location.
Microneedling uses very small needles to create controlled microchannels in the skin.
Those microchannels encourage the body’s natural repair response and stimulate collagen remodeling.
Microneedling may be considered for concerns such as:
Microneedling does not fill the face, freeze muscles or directly remove every brown spot. It is primarily used to improve skin quality and texture.
A series of treatments is commonly recommended because collagen development takes time. Results generally appear gradually rather than overnight.
Downtime is often less extensive than with aggressive laser resurfacing, but the skin may still be red, tight, dry or sensitive after treatment.
Microneedling must be performed carefully and under sanitary conditions. It may not be appropriate for someone with an active skin infection, certain inflammatory skin conditions, poor healing, recent sunburn or other medical concerns.
Microneedling is available at Recharge Clinic locations in Ocala, Clermont and Lady Lake.
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma.
A small amount of the patient’s own blood is collected and processed to separate a platelet-rich portion. That platelet-rich plasma may then be used with microneedling or for other aesthetic applications when medically appropriate.
PRP contains components involved in the body’s natural healing response. When combined with microneedling, it may be used to support the recovery and collagen-remodeling process.
It does not guarantee regeneration, dramatic tightening or a specific cosmetic result. Results vary, and a series is recommended.
Because PRP involves blood handling and a procedure that creates channels in the skin, proper medical protocols and infection-control practices matter tremendously. Unsafe blood handling and reused equipment can create serious risks, which is one reason these procedures should be performed in an appropriately regulated medical setting.
Aesthetic PRP treatments are available in Ocala, Clermont and Lady Lake.
A professional chemical peel applies a carefully selected chemical solution to the skin to create controlled exfoliation.
Depending on the specific peel and the individual patient, a VI Peel may be selected to address concerns such as:
After a peel, the skin may become dry, tight, sensitive or visibly flaky. Peeling may occur for several days.
Patients must not pick, pull or scrub peeling skin. I know it can be tempting, but doing that can increase the risk of irritation, delayed healing, scarring or unwanted pigment changes.
Sun protection is essential during the healing process.
A chemical peel is different from microneedling because it uses a chemical solution to create exfoliation rather than tiny needles to create microchannels.
A peel is also different from a laser. A laser or light-based procedure uses a specific energy source to target or resurface the skin.
None is automatically “better.” They are different tools.
VI Peels are available at Recharge Clinic locations in Ocala, Clermont and Lady Lake.
Laser hair removal targets pigment within the hair follicle.
Hair grows in cycles, and the laser is most effective when a treated hair is in an active growth phase. Because not every hair is in that phase at the same time, a series of treatments is typically needed.
Laser hair removal may significantly reduce hair growth, but it should not be described as guaranteed permanent removal.
Results vary based on:
Some hair colors respond better than others because the treatment relies on pigment. Gray, white, very light blond and some red hair may not respond as predictably.
Maintenance sessions may be needed, especially when hormonal changes contribute to new hair growth.
Women commonly request laser hair removal for the face, underarms, bikini area and legs.
Men may seek treatment for the back, chest, neck, shoulders or areas that become irritated from shaving.
Laser hair removal also has possible risks, including irritation, burns and changes in skin pigmentation. A proper evaluation, appropriate device settings and avoiding tanning around treatment are important safety considerations.
Laser hair removal is available only at Recharge Clinic’s Ocala location.
Certain small visible vessels may be treated with laser or light-based technology when appropriate.
These may include small facial vessels, redness around the nose or selected small veins in other areas.
However, not every visible vein is simply a cosmetic concern.
Large, painful, bulging or swollen veins—or veins associated with leg swelling, skin changes, warmth or other symptoms—may need evaluation by a vein specialist or another medical professional.
Before recommending cosmetic laser vein treatment, the provider must consider:
More than one treatment may be needed.
Laser vein treatment is available only at Recharge Clinic’s Ocala location.
Tattoo-removal lasers deliver energy that breaks tattoo pigment into smaller particles. The body gradually processes those particles over time.
That means the tattoo does not simply disappear during the appointment.
Tattoo removal generally requires multiple sessions, with healing time between treatments.
The number of sessions and degree of fading depend on factors such as:
Some ink colors respond better than others. Black ink often responds more predictably than certain light, fluorescent or multicolored pigments.
Complete removal cannot be guaranteed.
Possible risks include redness, soreness, blistering, infection, incomplete clearance, scarring and temporary or permanent lightening or darkening of the treated skin.
Treatments must be spaced far enough apart to allow the skin to heal and the body to process the fragmented pigment.
Tattoo removal is available only at Recharge Clinic’s SE Ocala location.
At Recharge Clinic, we carry professional products from:
In-office treatments can accomplish things that home products cannot. However, an in-office procedure cannot replace what you do to your skin every morning and every night.
Think about it this way: You may come into the office for a procedure several times a year, but you care for your skin at home approximately 730 times a year—once in the morning and once at night.
That routine matters.
A professional skincare plan may include:
This does not mean every person needs a complicated 12-step routine.
Men need skincare too, and many men prefer a simple routine they can follow consistently. A cleanser, one corrective product and sunscreen may be a practical starting point.
Professional guidance matters because strong ingredients can cause irritation when overused. Retinoids, exfoliating acids and other active products may also need to be paused before or after certain procedures.
More product is not always better. Consistency is better.
Aesthetic concerns often occur in layers.
A patient may have movement lines, volume loss, discoloration and rough texture at the same time. One treatment will not necessarily correct all four issues.
For example:
This does not mean every patient needs every treatment.
A good plan should prioritize what bothers you most, consider your budget and downtime, and build improvements gradually.
Aesthetics should not feel like buying everything on the menu.

A proper consultation should consider:

CO2 laser is a skin-resurfacing procedure that creates a controlled injury to stimulate healing and collagen remodeling. It may be considered for more significant texture concerns, wrinkles, scars and sun damage.
A photofacial commonly uses light-based technology to target selected brown discoloration, redness and visible vessels.
CO2 generally involves more preparation, aftercare and downtime. Neither treatment is appropriate for every patient.
Both CO2 laser and photofacial treatments are offered only at Recharge Clinic’s SE Ocala location.
Not necessarily.
Microneedling creates controlled microchannels and is often selected for texture, fine lines, visible pores and certain acne scars.
A chemical peel uses a solution to create controlled exfoliation and may be chosen for pigmentation, acne, uneven tone, texture or signs of aging.
The better option depends on your skin, goals, medical history and downtime tolerance. In some cases, the treatments may be used at different points in the same long-term plan.
PRP contains components from the patient’s own blood that participate in the body’s healing response. It may be applied with microneedling to support recovery and collagen remodeling.
Most patients need a series because hair grows in cycles, and the laser works most effectively on hairs in an active growth phase.
The exact number varies based on the treatment area, hair color, hair thickness, skin type, hormones and consistency with appointments. Maintenance sessions may also be needed.
Laser hair removal is available only at our SE Ocala location.
No.
Many tattoos can be significantly faded, but complete removal cannot be guaranteed. Certain colors, dense professional ink, cover-ups and cosmetic tattoo pigments may be more difficult to treat.
A consultation is necessary to evaluate the tattoo and discuss realistic expectations, risks and the likely number of sessions.
Tattoo removal is available only at our SE Ocala location.
No.
Certain small cosmetic vessels may respond to laser or light-based treatment, but not every vein is appropriate for cosmetic treatment.
Larger, painful, swollen or medically concerning veins may require evaluation by a vein specialist or another medical professional.
Laser vein treatment is offered only at our SE Ocala location.
Absolutely.
Men commonly seek treatment for sun damage, redness, acne scars, rough texture, unwanted hair, visible vessels and signs of aging.
Laser treatments for men are offered in SE Ocala. Microneedling, peels, PRP and professional skincare are available in Ocala, Clermont and Lady Lake.
Downtime depends on the treatment and how aggressively it is performed.
A lighter photofacial or microneedling treatment may cause temporary redness or sensitivity. A chemical peel may involve several days of dryness and visible peeling. CO2 laser resurfacing generally requires more significant healing time and aftercare.
Your provider will explain the expected recovery before treatment so that you can plan around work, travel and important events.
Recent tanning or significant sun exposure may make certain laser, light-based and peel treatments unsafe or increase the risk of unwanted pigment changes.
Tell your provider honestly about recent vacations, tanning, outdoor activity and sunburn. It may be safer to postpone treatment than to risk damaging the skin.
